Great for trail beginners: The Kiger 9 offers ample React foam cushioning without losing ground feel.
Advice: If you are new to trail running, use this as your training shoe and mileage builder.
The Nike Terra Kiger 9 is an agile trail running shoe designed for technical terrain. It features a full-length React foam midsole for smooth energy return and a ground-hugging feel. The upper uses dust-proof, abrasion-resistant technical mesh with a midfoot strap for secure lockdown. The outsole employs multi-directional lugs and high-wear rubber, excelling on dry forest trails and gravel descents. It performs best in the 4:30–5:30 min/km pace range, making it ideal for runners seeking speed and terrain responsiveness.
Grip on very wet/muddy surfaces may not match deep-lugged outsoles.
The 3mm drop may require adjustment if you are used to higher drops or heel striking.
The React foam is softer and lighter — for ultra-long distances or high-intensity trail races, a more protective shoe may be preferable.
