The Taipei Marathon is the largest and most iconic city marathon in Taiwan, organised by the Taipei City Government and held every December. The event offers both a full marathon and a half marathon. The full course starts at Taipei City Hall Plaza, runs along Ren'ai Road and Zhongshan North Road into the city centre, loops through the riverside bike path network, and finishes at Taipei Municipal Stadium.
The course is predominantly flat and gently graded, making it a fast route well suited to personal bests, though the urban sections include numerous turns that require disciplined pacing. The northeast monsoon brings cool December temperatures, widely regarded by Taiwanese runners as the best season for long-distance racing.
